A true example of the full potential of a custom Shopify theme, the Bendigo Pottery website is able to at once sell an extensive range of dinnerware, promote the historic Bendigo Pottery as a tourism destination, and include messages about their artisan spaces, retail store, and party venue. The design is clean, simple and easy to use, while paying respect to the immense history of Bendigo Pottery.

The Challenge

An ecommerce store that is also a tourism destination, retail store, artisan collective, party venue, and more!

Bendigo Pottery defies classification, an enigmatic entity encompassing a huge variety of elements and initiatives that give the brand a unique life and character all of its own.

When Rod and Sally approached us about updating their ecommerce store, we quickly realised that the website needed to be a lot more than a straightforward e-shop. WE needed to express the unique character and charm of the destination and express all the varied facets of the business.

The Solution

A bespoke Shopify theme that also works as an engaging informational website.

We were able to encompass everything that Bendigo Pottery is by designing a Shopify theme with custom pages for each of the other major aspects of the business.

Custom Shopify Theme Pages

  • Home – intro to all aspects of the site
  • Visit – tourism visitor oriented
  • About – history and venue info
  • CLAD – learning and design centre
  • Hospitality – commercial sales
  • Village of Artisans – artist spaces
  • Contact – contact and location details

Each of these pages has a unique design and content structure that ensures that the key messages are delivered effectively and continue to engage the audience as they explore what Bendigo Pottery has to offer.

Shopify Ecommerce Features

The ecommerce aspects of the site are equally important, and we didn't cut any corners in delivering an exciting and user-friendly ecommerce experience.

  • Search functionality
  • Category filter
  • List sort
  • Product image lightbox
  • Related products

The Experience

A hands-on approach to implementation and simple ongoing site management.

Rod and Sally knew they needed to update their site, and knew what needed to be included, but didn't know how to bring it all together into a cohesive whole, and had no prior experience with Shopify. Our structured approach to planning, design, development, and content gave our client a strong sense of direction and the confidence they needed to know they were implementing their new Shopify store in the right way

And now that the site is launched, they are able to easily manage orders and update content thanks to Shopify's intuitive interface and our extensive use of Shopify's editor functionality to make most aspects of the theme user-editable – even the content of the many custom pages.
